Join GoToMeeting from your Android phone

Finally you can join a GoToMeeting session from your Android phone, and it’s ALMOST perfect…

It’s loads fine on my MyTouch 4G and supposedly comes pre-loaded on the Motorola BIONIC.

To join a meeting you can either open the app and type in the meeting number or click on a link someone sent you and the app will launch automatically.

Simple.

The audio quality is very good. To see the screen properly, you can pinch and shrink or enlarge. The screen quality is excellent in my opinion, but it is a bit challenging to follow along with the screen. That isn’t Citrix’s fault, but a limitation with a 3.7 inch screen.

Don’t bother trying to join a GoToWebinar meeting from the GoToMeeting app. It won’t work. Personally, I’m hoping the GoToWebinar app for Android is right around the corner, since that would add a huge amount of flexibility. Lot’s more people like me could attend more Webinars, since I always have my phone with me but am often not sitting at the computer.

As for the people who complain about GoToMeeting being too expensive, the should try to get one of the cheaper or free solutions to work reliably behind corporate firewalls.

If you have nothing but time on your hands and time isn’t money to you,  then be my guest to try to get Skype to work. My experiments with Skype have not gone very smoothly.

I’m very happy that Citrix has finally come out with the app for Android that has been available for the iPhone for some time. It’s long overdue.

The only issue I have with the app is that I can’t see the cursor. I send a Tweet to @GoToMeeting back on the 19th, for which I received no response. I was kind of surprised they didn’t answer.

The cursor issue doesn’t seem to be bothering anyone else. If it happens to you leave a comment below. Maybe it’s only a MyTouch 4G thing.

My top three  productivity tips are mindset, focus, and 3 daily tasks.

Mindset is by far the most useful productivity tool. Vividly imagine yourself as someone who already has the habits of a winner.

This technique is magical, because you will always act in accordance with the way you see yourself.

If you see yourself as someone who struggles, you will act like someone who hasn’t quite made it. Others will sense that identity and will not treat you as if you were already successful.

See yourself as a winner and you will act like a winner. Others will treat you like a winner. And when you are looking for resources to overcome new obstacles, you will unconsciously model and adopt the attitude of a winner.

Focus is another important productivity tool.

Focus is vital to getting things done fast because it taps into the full power of your mind. When you allow yourself to aim your full attention at your current task, your unconscious mind automatically solves problems that it has dealt with before. Your unconscious mind works incredibly fast and efficiently.

Have you ever gone into your kitchen and found it all organized and clean and realized that you were thinking of something entirely different while you were cleaning? Did you actually wonder for a moment how it got so clean, especially since you didn’t remember cleaning it? Or maybe you don’t remember getting dressed or the drive to work…

That was your unconscious mind working at lightning speed because you gave it the go-ahead to focus and act on your behalf.

When you finish your three tasks you will get a sense of accomplishment. You might think that small doesn’t matter, but over time, it makes all the difference.

When you are constantly meeting your goals – even small ones, you get a sense that you can do what you set out to do. The tasks can become more ambitious. As they do your sense that you can realize your dreams becomes stronger.

You gain confidence and momentum. You become highly resistant to negative influences like procrastination and self-doubt.

How to Get Your Message Across with Web Conferencing

If you can get and keep your participants’ attention, web conferencing can save you a lot of money on travel and related expenses.  But that’s easier said than done.  Many people still prefer to meet in person whenever possible – even if it costs them a lot more to do it.

So how do you keep the online meeting lively and your participants engaged?

Momentum and flow are the most important aspects of holding an online meeting.  To create momentum, you need to start with a short description of the purpose of the meeting and then ask a question that captures the imagination of your participants and makes them want to respond.

Asking how many people read the material might be necessary at times, but you’ll be a lot better off if you can stimulate their curiosity and challenge them instead of putting them on the spot. This is true when dealing with peers and even when you’re the boss.

Engage Your Audience

Try to find something unusual about the topic and turn it into a question that your audience would be interested in knowing. Even seemingly boring topics have an interesting side. You just need to do a little research.

If the topic is fairly straightforward and doesn’t lend itself to excitement, you can throw out a topic of interest to the group. The more relevant to the topic the better, but in a jam, even a question like, “What was the name of Brad Pitts first movie?” or “What was the first song by U2 to hit the top ten?” will keep your audience attentive.

Create Suspense

Once you’ve gotten the online meeting started, you need to maintain momentum.  Since you’ve started by asking an interesting question and inviting the audience to answer, you can keep the flow of the meeting going by creating suspense.

Ask a question and tell your audience that you’ll give the answer at the end of the meeting. Sound cheesy? Maybe, but news shows use it all the time – and even if it annoys you, you stay till the end if you’re interested in the topic. The trick is to find something that most people will be curious to know.

Even an otherwise boring training on a new version of software for time recording can be made interesting by finding out 3-5 things about the developer or CEO of the company that wrote it.

A small prize, like a hat with the company logo, could be given out as a reward to the person that answers the most questions correctly. You could also offer a gift to a randomly selected participant. It doesn’t have to be expensive. People love to win something for free. Don’t you?

NetMeeting on Crack?

“Why not just use NetMeeting for all your online meetings and webinars? After all, it’s free, right?”

Consider these reasons why you should consider using a better web conferencing solution:

• NetMeeting is not “firewall friendly.” So if some people are inside your network and some outside, you’ll have to reconfigure your corporate firewall to hold a meeting with everyone. Some may even be behind another corporate firewall. Most companies won’t accept the added security risk that comes with opening additional ports in their firewall.

• With NetMeeting, the number of connections is limited to 8-16 people per host. As a workaround people have to connect to others who are connected. This daisy chaining brings two problems: 1) You have to communicate with another of the attendees of a NetMeeting conference to get his or her IP so you can connect, 2) If there are any disconnections, you may need to “phone a friend” to get reconnected.

• NetMeeting is only available for Windows systems. Mac and Linux users are excluded from the party.

• Scheduling has to be done separately through e-mail or via a separate calendaring system.

• People who share their larger screens (e.g., 1400×1200) force people with lesser resolution to have to scroll around to follow the presentation, since the participant can only see a part of the presenter’s screen at any given time.

NetMeeting still does the basics well if you’re in the same network in a small group.

But if you are serious about making more money with less effort,  you want something that works regardless of where your prospects are or what kind of a computer system they are using.

GoToMeeting is NetMeeting on crack. If you need a solution for larger groups you’ll want GoToWebinar which includes GoToMeeting. They get the job done. Let’s look at what GoToMeeting/GoToWebinar can do for you:

Each participant can decide whether he/she wants to see that screen at full scale or reduced size.

It’s true that there is a price associated with GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar, but if you are serious about your presentations – and you should be, the price is small compared to the returns in sales and leads.

Even if you think you will never get your $49/month out of GoToMeeting or $99 out of GoToWebinar, you owe it to yourself to signup for a 30 day free trial. Give a Webinar and hold a meeting. Often people think they won’t like giving Webinars, and find out after they have done one, that it grows on you. And if you do it right, you can earn money off of your webinars while using your free trial!

And it is the fastest way to create a high ticket product, bar none.

If you want to become a major player and earn a decent income with Internet Marketing like Marlon Sanders, Frank Kern, Brian Clark, Mike Filsaime, Shoemoney or John Chow – ok, these guys earn more than “decent,” I admit – then you will want to give Webinars.
