Renew your Wishlist Member subscription if you get this error

Today I was updating one of my Wishlist Member sites and received this error:

PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

Most everything I found in Google was related to a disk space issue — which I didn’t have.

Finally I figured out that my Wishlist Member subscription had expired. As soon as I renewed my subscription and retried to upgrade to the latest WLM version, it succeeded without a hitch.

I highly recommend Wishlist Member, but I wish they would have notified me that my subscription had expired….

HDFaces Lets You Meet Face to Face from Anywhere

HDFaces is exciting technology because it puts a face to a voice and to a screen capture presentation. What will HDFaces mean for your sales?

HDFaces is an added feature for Citrix’s screen sharing products GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar and GoToTraining. Citrix says HDFaces will launch Q1 of 2011.

First let’s talk about the advantages of the technology itself. At least in theory, your participants will feel more in touch with you when they can see you. Also, you can gauge your prospects’ reactions better if you can see them.

Are they leaning back and looking interested, or are they looking away and picking their noses? Do they look confused, attentive, bored?

Depending on their reaction, you can adjust your presentation to eliminate any confusion – even if the prospect doesn’t articulate the resistance to taking action.

Like in a face-to-face meeting, you can read the expression in their face.

As the name implies, HDFaces claims full HD (up to 1920x960p) resolution. They claim that it demands 20% less bandwidth than stand-alone video conferencing solutions, all of which should mean that your presentation is relatively free of interruptions.

Anyone who has run many webinars or meetings knows that as good as the GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar services are, you will encounter occasional interruptions in audio or video. But some of that is due to issues of the ISPs that participants use to connect to those services.

In theory, HDFaces should help you enhance trust, make your prospects more relaxed, since they will have a visual way to judge your sincerity.

With the added trust and relaxation won through your prospect seeing you, you will be able to convince more of your prospects and make more sales.

My feeling is HDFaces is something that you will want to test. In some situations it will benefit you greatly as suggested above. In other situations it will only be a distraction and you will choose not to turn it on.

Since Citrix is integrating HDFaces into GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar at no additional cost, you don’t have to make any decisions whether to upgrade. You will be free to use it or not in the situation that it serves you.

You can get a free trial of GoToMeeting today. It the next couple months your software will automatically be upgraded to include HDFaces.

Are Premium WordPress Themes Worth the Price?

Premium WordPress themes can fill the basic need of putting a face on your blog. Here are three things that make a premium (paid) WordPress theme worth the money, if you want to use your blog to do more than just gather virtual dust.

You may not realize it, but without a theme, WordPress displays a blank page. The theme is what gives your blog its face.

A good premium WordPress theme will make it easy to put your personality into your blog design. Since it’s best to get up and running now and make improvements as you go, a premium theme should allow you to make those changes easily. In addition, your theme should protect you from changes to the environment like updates to WordPress or to the theme itself.

A premium theme should allow you to get more exposure then you would get from an unpaid theme. A good premium WordPress theme will separate the actual content of your blog from the styling code. This makes it easier for Google to know what audience you are targeting with you blog and give your blog more exposure with that crowd. You get more traffic, hopefully more money and the premium theme pays for itself.

A third feature that a good premium WordPress theme should offer is outstanding support.  Even better than phone support is a user supported forum where expert users almost compete to give you the quickest answers to any questions related to the theme.

The one WordPress theme that I have found that gives you all the benefits described above is the Thesis theme for WordPress.

I use on all my sites and highly recommend it.

On this blog, I have seen my articles indexed on Google literally within minutes. With each update the theme has become more feature-rich and easier to use.

I have even made videos on Thesis which I include in a membership site called Thesis Theme Magic

All I can say is that if you go with the Thesis theme, you won’t be sorry.

Dimdim vs GoToMeeting and Webex

Dimdim has a great offering for their free version.  Still, it’s not my first choice. When you compare it with GoToMeeting and Webex, you’ll see my point.

Didim has a lot going for it. It’s simple to get a session going, it has webcam integration and, probably most attractive, it has a free version.

When I took it for a test drive yesterday, though, I immediately noticed a significant lag between the two computers that I connected. In addition, the audio was a tad choppy. It was still quite usable, and the interface is quite intuitive.

So my feeling is, for informal meetings, it’s great, especially for the price.

If you want to hold more formal meetings where you want to avoid as many distractions as possible, y ou may want to consider GoToMeeting or Webex.

Especially if you are holding meetings or webinars in order to convince and to sell, you want reliability.

Let’s face it, you want your participants to focus on your message instead of the technology you’re using to deliver your information, right?

None of these three online meeting solutions is perfect. I’ve been on many GoToMeeting meetings and webinars. Occasionally the audio drops and you have to reconnect. The same has happened for me with Webex.

The point is that most people who use online collaboration tools are running a business that depends on getting the message out. The quality of the solution directly affects the bottom line.

For me, Dimdim is the Smart Car of online meeting solutions. It gets you from point A to point B at a minimal cost.

The Ferrari of the group is GoToMeeting.  It does have significant cost, but then the look the feel and, most importantly, the performance is unequaled.  It sports an intuitive user interface, fast screen refresh and has the highest degree of reliability.

The only things that GoToMeeting is missing, in my opinion, is the webcam that both Dimdim and Webex have.

I’m an affiliate for GoToMeeting and Dimdim. I use GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar extensively.

I encourage you to test each for yourself using the free trial for both GoToMeeting and Dimdim so you can see which is right for you.

Why Time Management on Crack Will Make Your Day

Time management comes down to a simple formula of FOCUS + MOMENTUM = CONSISTENT RESULTS.

What is the secret to the formula?

Think repeatable systems that work — and an attitude.

You may be able to find repeatable systems in other places, but without the attitude, you’re sunk.

The combination of a system with an attitude is what makes Time Management on Crack unique. In every sentence of every page, you hear something you don’t find anywhere else.

You hear the voice of a man who is writing the exact steps that work for him. You hear a man with no tolerance for procrastination. You sense the urgency for a clear plan. You get a plan that has produced results for him and for many others.

Time Management on Crack has meant a huge boost in productivity for me. It is the reason I’ve written 7 articles in the last week. It pushed me to create and post three YouTube videos. It contributed greatly to my giving a webinar, something I thought I’d never do.

I’ve even created three products (,, – 4 sales) because of the momentum.

Is your biggest problem overload or procrastination? Time Management on Crack was the first to convince me that you need consistent effort over time to achieve meaningful and consistent results. TMOC was the first to  show me no nonsense systems for getting stuff completed – not just 75%, not 85% not even just 95% done.

The systems in TMOC will show you simple step-by-step procedures and convince you to produce a lot of content quickly. In the Internet Marketing world, content brings results.

Why Webinars are Better than Pre-Recorded Videos

Live webinars are much better than pre-recorded videos because live webinars give the audience a chance to interact with you. You can ask your audience a question and let them give you instant feedback. You can use the feedback to improve a future product or even change the direction of your current presentation so that it’s more relevant to your audience.

You can also conduct polls to gage your prospects’ interest in particular features of your product. Polls also increase the attentiveness of your audience, since people will want to know how others are thinking about a given topic.

Another thing that live webinars offer is the ability for your prospects to get to know your personality and build up trust so that they will feel comfortable spending money on your products. Personality is very important when you are marketing anything online since many people use a fake name to hide their identity and don’t stand behind their products. By going “live” on the Internet you’re telling the world that you have nothing to hide and that you are who you say you are.

Webinars give product launches a huge boost over recorded video. If you do it right, people will sign up while the webinar is still in session and can give you feedback about technical issues with your server or membership site. Pre-recorded video is great for warm up, but when you launch, do it on a webinar.

Finally, live webinars let you add urgency to your call to action. After all, every webinar should move your participants to take action right away. Also you can bring in the element of scarcity much more effectively. You can see the degree of excitement that your audience has and possibly add a bonus or two.

My favorite webinar software is GoToWebinar. You can get a free thirty day trial of GoToWebinar today and see the benefits of giving webinars first hand.
